Social Media Intern, Third Act CT

Third Act is a group of climate activists over the age of 60. They want to increase their social media presence. Their primary goals are:

  1. To identify potential posts for their current Facebook page and to improve their reach; to create those posts in consultation (as necessary) with their social media communications leader.
  2. To develop an Insta account and build it out.
  3. To work with them as they begin to develop their Seniors to Seniors outreach (through which senior citizens reach out to seniors in high school with personal stories of what voting has meant to them, when it has made a difference, and encouraging young seniors to register and then to vote when they are eligible. This program will be gearing up this spring and having an intern will help them speak in ways that reach 18 year-olds better than they do now.
  4. Possibly develop a TikTok platform for them (though they need to talk this thru more to learn its benefits and its demands and expectations).
  5. Teach these elders how best to utilize all these platforms so they can build on the intern’s work and teaching in future years.

Third Act CT is a movement with about 300 active members and another 400-500 lurking and considering. We are part of a nationwide Third Act movement (70,000 strong after just two years) focused on elders working to leave a better legacy in climate and democracy than we are currently leaving. One of our cardinal principles is backing up youth leadership; in this case, youth leadership would be backing them up!
