ESPN NEXT is the company’s Production Assistant program focused on content creation for early-career professionals. This talented group of professionals produces content that fans can consume in many ways.
What You Will Do
As a Social Production Intern with NEXT, you will have the opportunity to gain real-world experience producing content for social platforms, while also learning about different areas of the business through networking. The internship will provide an opportunity to experience the social production aspect of the Production Assistant role within ESPN NEXT. If selected for this role, you will report to a Senior Social Media Specialist and an ESPN NEXT Manager. Responsibilities include:
Consuming and producing studio show content for social platforms to drive engagement
Analyze performance of social content and incorporate those insights into future content decisions
Pitching ideas to social teams and studio shows
Required Qualifications & Skills
Standard knowledge of multiple sports, especially sports heavily covered by ESPN
Awareness of media trends (i.e. social, digital, linear, etc.)
Familiarity with ESPN’s content across multiple platforms
Ability to research and pitch ideas
Ability to react quickly and positively under pressure
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in sports media, preferably in content creation
Ability to clearly communicate with leaders of the social production team
Education
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
Major or previous coursework in Journalism, Broadcast, Sports Media or related major preferred

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
Be at least 18 years of age
Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
Possess unrestricted work authorization

The approximate dates of this internship are January through May 2025
This internship is a remote position and requires a working, reliable internet connection as well as a quiet, dedicated workspace
Available from Monday through Friday, with potential to work weekends for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week. There may be some flexibility based on candidate’s academic schedule

Overview of the internships
We have multiple Documentary & Unscripted Programming/Development internship opportunities available. By applying to this posting, you will be considered for all internship opportunities within this area. These internships will be located in the NYC area. The selected interns will be expected to join us in the office on a regular cadence based on the intern manager’s in office schedule.
This could include, but is not limited to:
HBO Documentary Programming Intern: NYC – Spring 2025
Magnolia Network Content Development Intern: NYC – Spring 2025
Your Role Accountabilities
Duties could include:
Screening and writing coverage for documentary films
Experience pitch meetings first-hand
Support department in administration upkeep by maintaining the organization of departmental tracking systems
Research and various projects including a semester long development project
Assist the Production Executives with their creative needs
Learn how to build pitch decks, write loglines and show descriptions
Organize and track internal and external ideas in all phases of development
Edit casting tapes
Present series ideas for their own intern project
Gain hands on experience to learn what it’s truly like to work in production
Qualifications & Experience
Strong interest in documentaries
Spreadsheet and analytical skills
Strong attention to detail
Willing to work with a team and independently
Familiarity with all Microsoft applications
Excellent MS Excel and PowerPoint skills
Good written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to develop strong professional relationships with internal and external parties
Ability to work under pressure, multitask and prioritize deliverables/projects with competing deadlines
Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required)
Must be a rising Junior or Senior Undergrad (18 years or older)
Must be in academic good standing (3.0 or above cumulative GPA) A transcript will be required to verify your GPA if an offer is extended.

Previous experience working with documentaries or unscripted content
Familiarity with Premiere Pro a plus

The duration of the program is 12 weeks
Program dates:
Start Date: January 27th
End Date: April 18th
Interns will be expected to work 16-24 hours per week in a hybrid capacity.
Our internships are paid opportunities with a competitive hourly wage. Credit is not required; however, we will provide the necessary documentation for school credit if desired. Relocation is not provided.
Interviewing will take place from October through December. A WBD team member will contact you if your experiences and interests match an open internship position. Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to give individual status updates.
