Fairfield County’s Community – Community Philanthropy Intern

Position Summary

Hours: 15 hours per week

Compensation: $22/hour

At Fairfield County’s Community Foundation (FCCF), we’re building a Fairfield County where every person has an equitable opportunity to thrive. As part of our commitment to community connection and inclusive growth, we’re looking for a motivated and community-minded Community Philanthropy Intern to join our team for a 12-month, part-time internship.

This is a hands-on opportunity to work closely with our Director of Community Philanthropy—to be a thought partner helping to shape innovative initiatives that strengthen relationships, drive engagement, and bring people together to create lasting impact.

The Community Philanthropy Intern will support key initiatives in our Community Philanthropy portfolio, including The SOUL Fund (a new giving circle housed at FCCF), Advocacy with the Allies (an advocacy skill-building and organized civic engagement initiative), and In Community (a series of public programs designed to spark new ways of thinking about and acting upon our region’s most pressing challenges).

What You’ll Do

  • Track and analyze engagement data using Excel and C-Suite tools to inform campaign strategies.
  • Support reporting, attendance, and engagement tracking for community events and outreach efforts.
  • Create and send targeted, tailored communications to segmented audience groups through Outlook.
  • Assist with event planning and logistics for both virtual and in-person gatherings (approximately 18 events in 2026, most held in the evening).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless, high-impact community experience.

What We’re Looking For

  • Current college student or recent graduate interested in philanthropy, community engagement, or nonprofit leadership.
  • Creative thinker and strong writer who can craft compelling, audience-specific messages.
  • Experience planning and executing events.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Office Suite
  • Comfortable working with data and using insights to shape strategy.
  • A collaborative spirit, curiosity to learn, and enthusiasm for storytelling that inspires connection.
  • Flexibility to attend evening events as needed.

If you’re passionate about building stronger, more connected communities—and want to learn how philanthropy can make a lasting difference—we’d love to hear from you!

All applicants must include a cover letter (no more than 1 page) that outlines what specifically drew your interest to this internship and highlights one key example from your background that makes you a great candidate.
