POLITICO Editorial Internship, New York, Summer 2023

POLITICO’s New York team is seeking an editorial intern for summer 2023. The intern — working both virtually and from our Lower Manhattan office — will play a critical role in our coverage of Mayor Eric Adams, the City Council and politics and policy in America’s biggest city.

What You’ll Do:

  • Pitch, report and write stories of consequence, both for our audience of influential professionals in New York and POLITICO’s wider national readership.
  • Cover spots news as assigned by editors.
  • Work with our New York Playbook team to write and produce our daily newsletter on politics in the state.
  • The intern will be involved in all aspects of content creation and production, including research, reporting, writing, editing and aggregating. Some of this work will occur in early morning hours.

What You’ll Need:

  • A can-do attitude, initiative, good time management and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and a desire to not only develop your own story ideas but explain their broader meaning to a sophisticated audience.
  • The ability to write quickly and cleanly while on deadline.
  • Prior hands-on experience as an intern at a professional news outlet and, ideally, experience working on a student publication.
  • A passion for politics and policy and a thirst to learn how New York works.
  • A commitment to fair-minded, nonpartisan journalism.
  • 3-5 clips original clips are preferred

West Hartford Coworking Marketing + Community Manager Intern

About the Role:

We are looking for a Marketing + Community Manager Intern for the Fall and/or Spring to maintain the daily responsibilities of the physical space as well as develop our presence through creative marketing initiatives. This is not a traditional “front desk” experience as you would be fully involved in the day to day operations, customer service, marketing and business development projects for West Hartford Coworking as well. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the point of contact for current and prospective members
  • Providing information and running tours for prospective members
  • Generating social media presence through copywriting, graphic design, and thoughtful content creation including Instagram Reels, IG and FB Live, and TikTok
  • Implementing new business initiatives through results-driven partnerships and business development programs
  • Daily maintenance of the space which includes but not limited to: responding to members’ inquiries, cleaning high-traffic surface areas, washing dishes, clearing trash, caring for plants

Requirements:

  • Understanding of social media, email marketing and website content management – as well as the coming platforms associated with this work including: Canva, Squarespace, MailChimp, Buffer, and the like.
  • High level of creativity and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Extremely driven, self-starter, looking to make an impact on small businesses
  • Available for part-time hours throughout the regular work week (Mon-Fri, 9AM-5PM) as well as some weekends and evenings to support events
