Media communication intern, Outside Perspectives

Overview

Outside Perspectives is a nonprofit organization that partners with youth development organizations, schools, and teams to provide transformative expedition, rock climbing, and team-building experiences in the natural environment. The media communications intern will be responsible for organizing and processing the visuals taken by the participants and staff of the various expeditions hosted by the organization.

Duties

The media communication intern is responsible for communicating with the office staff on social media needs and feedback on current projects while working independently on projects such as video/slideshow creation of past programs and Google Drive organization of visual content received by participants and staff members. 

Detailed job duties include:

  • Receiving the photos and videos from the courses and organizing them within the drive
  • Creating a celebration video to be shown to the participants of each course, including said content
  • Reorganizing within the drive for marketing purposes/clearing out unneeded photos and videos after the celebration video is made
  • Creating (on Canva) social media (Instagram and Facebook) content for upcoming events, reflecting on/promoting the past courses while using hashtags that will uplift the content

Qualification

  • Must have access to their own portable computer and video editing software
  • Must be proficient with video editing and using Canva
  • Knowledge on social media creation, hashtags, and general content uplift
  • Must be proficient with using Google Drives
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Self-starter who can manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • A passion for the work of uplifting youth communities and the outdoors

Digital Marketing

WORX Digital Marketing Internship

  • This is a paid internship where students can work up to 30 hours a week.
  • This internship is fully in-person offering a hands-on experience working with Marketing Strategists, sitting in on client meetings/calls, and producing work that supports marketing initiatives.
  • Primary responsibilities for an individual in this role include market research, pay-per-click campaign management, website support, social media content development, and community engagement.
  • Prior internship or professional experience in the above areas is not required but coachability and an eagerness to learn are a must. An interest in specific facets of digital marketing is a plus.
  • Interns receive full training and certifications on the major digital marketing platforms (Google Ads, Analytics, Microsoft Ads, HubSpot, Meta etc.) as well as the preparedness to work full-time by the time their internship term is complete.

Watkinson School Social Media Intern

Spend a semester populating Watkinson School’s social media feeds, specifically Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X (Twitter). 

Watkinson School is Hartford’s oldest independent school and it is a co-ed day school for grades 6-12/PG. Work alongside Watkinson’s Director of Communication and gain real world experience that will be applicable after graduation.

Schedule is flexible. Requirements will include an agreed upon number of weekly posts and regular assessment of the insights. Interested applicants should contact jenni_french@watkinson.org.
