Responsibilities

  • Serve as a support staff member for the public relations team
  • Assist in the research and writing of press releases, blog articles and social media content
  • Provide and gather background research and support materials for client projects
  • Write, distribute and pitch press releases and other client news to media
  • Participate in meetings between agency and its clients
  • Research and develop social media content for agency and its clients
  • Maintain and update media lists
  • Research and identify earned media opportunities for clients
  • Monitor and reporting
  • Assist with agency podcast, UpFront, by researching guests and content

Qualifications

  • Be in good academic standing
  • Commit to completing 120 hours (3 credits)
  • Must work a minimum of 12 – 15 hours per week
  • Open to rising juniors, seniors and graduate students
  • Must be a communications major, interested public relations
  • Have strong writing ability
  • Understanding of Muck Rack and Sprout Social (not necessary, but a plus)

ESPN NEXT Social Production Intern, Remote, Spring 2025

About the Role & Program

ESPN NEXT is the company’s Production Assistant program focused on content creation for early-career professionals. This talented group of professionals produces content that fans can consume in many ways.

What You Will Do

As a Social Production Intern with NEXT, you will have the opportunity to gain real-world experience producing content for social platforms, while also learning about different areas of the business through networking. The internship will provide an opportunity to experience the social production aspect of the Production Assistant role within ESPN NEXT. If selected for this role, you will report to a Senior Social Media Specialist and an ESPN NEXT Manager. Responsibilities include:

  • Consuming and producing studio show content for social platforms to drive engagement
  • Analyze performance of social content and incorporate those insights into future content decisions
  • Pitching ideas to social teams and studio shows

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Standard knowledge of multiple sports, especially sports heavily covered by ESPN
  • Awareness of media trends (i.e. social, digital, linear, etc.)
  • Familiarity with ESPN’s content across multiple platforms
  • Ability to research and pitch ideas
  • Ability to react quickly and positively under pressure

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in sports media, preferably in content creation
  • Passion for creative storytelling
  • Experience editing content (Adobe Premiere & Photoshop)
  • Ability to clearly communicate with leaders of the social production team

Education

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
  • Major or previous coursework in Journalism, Broadcast, Sports Media or related major preferred

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization

Additional Information

  • The approximate dates of this internship are January through May 2025
  • This internship is a remote position and requires a working, reliable internet connection as well as a quiet, dedicated workspace
  • Available from Monday through Friday, with potential to work weekends for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week. There may be some flexibility based on candidate’s academic schedule
